Manuacript formatting guide

Information about authors should consist of:

  1. Full name
  2. Main place of work
  3. Position
  4. Academic title
  5. Contacts ( phone number, e-mail)

 

All information is given in line (without point) in Russian and English language.

 

Text Layout

An article should be thoroughly edited containing signs of scientific publication and compiled with the use of MS Word (at least 2003 version). Paper size A4. Page parameters: page margin – top, left and tail margins 2.5 cm, right one 2 cm; header 2 cm, footer 2 cm.

On the first page UDC should be mentioned ( left alignment; font “ Times New Roman” 14 pt; single line space)

Following authors’ initials and surnames, title, annotation and key words in Russian ( the same information is given in English in the end of publication after references).

Contributors list should be separated by a comma. Initials (with a full stop and an interspace after each of them) should be written in front of a family name (font “Times New Roman” 11,5 pt; right alignment, paragraph indention 0,6 cm; automatic hyphenation is not used, paragraph spacing before 20pt, after 8pt, single line space).

The title 

The title is written in italics (font “Times New Roman” 15 pt, bold; left alignment; automatic hyphenation is not used, paragraph spacing before and after 12 pt, single line space).

 

Annotation

Annotation consists of 10 (or more) lines summarizing the article contents name (font “ Times New Roman” 8,5 pt, italics; justified alignment, paragraph indention 0,6 cm; automatic hyphenation is not used, paragraph spacing before 6 pt, after 0 pt, single line space).

Key words 

Key words consist of 3 – 10 words and collocations separated by a comma reflecting the article contents; no full stop is required (font “Times New Roman” 9,5 pt, bold; left alignment; automatic hyphenation is not used, paragraph spacing before and after 12 pt; single line space)

The Main Body 

The Main Body Font “Times New Roman” 10.5 pt; justified alignment; paragraph indention 0.6 cm; line spacing 1.1; automatic hyphenation.

The main body is followed by References.

The heading “References”. Italics, font “Times New Roman” 11 pt, bold; justified alignment;paragraph spacing before 12 pt, after 8 pt; single line space

References themselves - bibliographic entry for the sources used (defined in the standard GOST 7.3 - 2008). Bibliographic entry for the document. Each reference with a number should be written in a separate paragraph. font “Times New Roman” 8,5 pt,; first line with the paragraph indention 0,6 cm; justified alignment; single line space.

Only the sources referred to in the text should be given (references to unpublished and non-replicated works are not allowed).

Formulas should be compiled with the use of formula editor MathType or Equation Editor.

One should use the following settings for a formula editor. Sizes: “full” 10.5 pt, “subindex” 9 pt, “sub-subindex” 7 pt, “symbol” 14.5 pt, “subsymbol” 12.5 pt. Styles: text, function, number, t – “Times New Roman”, matrix vector – “Times New Roman”, bold; Greek capital letter, Greek small letter, symbol – “Symbol”, Roman script; variable – “Times New Roman”, italics. Brackets and mathematical operation signs should be written using templates of the formula editor MathType.

When entering formula without use of editor indexes are 9pt with character spaing 3 pt raised or lowered (Main → Font → Advanced → Character spacing) depending on subscript or superscript index.  DO NOT USE Font → Effects  → Subscript /Superscript. If the formula at the same time has subscript and superscript indexes it is created in MathType Editor only.

Formulas 

Formulas place in the separate line should have spacing 3 pt before and 3 pt after; single line space.

Figures and Tables

Every Figure and Table in the text should be referenced and numbered ( pic.1 , table 1)

The text should be typed with a single line space, font “Times New Roman”; the main body – 9 pt, indexes – 7 pt, subscripts – 5.5 pt.

Numeric heading includes the word “Table” and its number written in Arabic numerals (without a number sign in front of it, without a full stop in the end spacing after 4pt; right alignment; the heading should be written in light italics), spacing before and after the table 6pt. Table width cannot exceed 7,9 cm, big tables – not more than 16,5 cm.

Figures representing graphs, charts and so on should be accomplished in graphical vector editors built-in editors Microsoft Word or other programms (CorelDRAW, Visio, Adobe Illustrator, Excel ( submitting the original electronically)) in black and white. One can use bitmap formats (.jpeg, .tiff). Quality of the figures and photos should be not less than 300 dpi. Base lines in the figures (block borders and connecting lines on the charts, graph lines) have the width of 1 pt, auxiliary lines (footnotes, axes, dimension lines) – 0.6 pt

The description of the figure itself and the symbols introduced in it should be given in the main body. Text under the figure contains only its’ number (font “Time New Roman”, italics, 9pt) and is placed in the center under the figure ( e.g. Fig. 1) . All the text and symbols in the figure should be typed in Microsoft Word a single line space, font “Times New Roman”; the main body – 9 pt, indexes – 7 pt, subscripts – 5.5 pt. numerical and letter designations of the fragment and a numerical title should be printed in italics. Alphabetical references of the figure fragments (“Times New Roman”, italics, 9 pt) should be given under the fragment before a numerical title; in the text the reference to a fragment should be given after a numerical title separated by a comma (for instance, fig. 1, a). paragraph spacing before and after figure 6 pt. Table width cannot exceed 7,9 cm, big tables – not more than 16,5 cm.
