FORMULATION OF THE PROBLEM OF STUDYING THE SHAPE OF THE CRYSTALLIZATION FRONT DURING ZONE MELTING IN AN INDUCTION FURNACE WITH A COLD CRUCIBLE

Presents the results of research on the technology of purification of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) on the basis of multiple crystallization of the melt in an induction furnace with a cold crucible during by zone melting. The work was carried out to study the form of the melt crystallization front at different speeds of the crucible relative to the inductor. The generalized mathematical model of SNF cleaning process is developed, the algorithm of the program operation is presented. Numerical simulation of melt crystallization processes is carried out, as well as theoretical calculation of the system parameters to obtain the best result. Verification of the data obtained by numerical simulation with the data of full-scale experiment is carried out. The verification results indicate that the developed model of the crystallization front shape is reliable for calculations.
