ON THE HISTORY OF CONSTRUCTING THE FIRST LINE OF WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY "GOGLAND–KOTKA"

In January 1900 the first in the world radio line "Gogland–Kotka" was put into practice. A.S. Popov wireless telegraphy apparatus provided uninterrupted radio line operation within 26.5 miles for 84 days. During a rescue expedition of the battleship "General-Admiral Apraksin" there were also solved complicated engineering tasks on mounting antennas and assembling receiving and transmitting stations as well as on the ship body reconstruction in severe winter conditions. The Navy department of the Russian Empire decided to equip the Russian Navy ships with wireless telegraphy.
